Translating the listing
The portal speaks about 30 languages, and shows your game's title, description and controls in the player's language. You write the texts in at least one language (English or Spanish is best); the other languages can be filled in two ways.
Each language's status
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
developer | Written or approved by you. Never overwritten by machine translation |
machine | Machine-translated by Gamealia, not reviewed yet |
missing | No text yet: the portal falls back to another language |
The source of every translation is your English text, else your Spanish text, else the first language you wrote. When you change the source, Gamealia refreshes only its own machine languages, never the ones you wrote or approved.
Option 1: your AI assistant (recommended)
Your assistant translates better than a generic machine translation: it keeps the game's tone, its jokes and its names. The agent kit's gamealia-translate-listing skill does it:
gamealia_get_status {game, texts: true}returns every language's status and text, the source text and the limits.- The assistant translates the source into every
machineandmissinglanguage: same meaning and tone, natural for a native speaker, keeping the game's name, character names and key names (WASD,Space). - It saves them all in one
gamealia_update_listing {game, texts: {fr: {title, description, controls}, de: {...}, ...}}. Everything is validated first; if a field breaks a limit, nothing is saved and the error names the language and the field.
Just ask: "translate my Gamealia listing into every language". Then check the names and the jokes in the languages you know.
In texts, {} approves a language's machine translation as it is, and null removes a language.
Without the MCP, gamealia status <slug> --texts --json prints the same data for any assistant or script.
Option 2: the portal button
In the developer portal, the game's page lists every language with its status. Translate missing languages queues a machine translation of every missing or outdated language; the texts show up there in about a minute, marked as machine-made. You can edit any of them (it becomes yours) or approve it as it is. Saving the listing with changed texts also queues the translation of the languages that need it.
The machine translation has a daily budget per developer: when it is used up (or the service is unavailable) the button says so, and you can translate with your assistant instead.
Limits
Characters, after trimming: title 2-60, description 20-2000 (or empty), controls up to 500 (or empty). Each language keeps a title.
